Parent Coaching in Denver, Boulder, and Across Colorado

nurturing authentic connection.

As a parent coach trained by the Good Inside® clinical training team, at the core of my parent coaching service is a simple yet powerful belief: all children and parents have innate goodness. This belief guides us to approach every challenge with empathy and curiosity. Parent coaching, especially when paired with EMDR therapy, offers a unique opportunity to use parenting itself as a lens to identify and work through our own triggers. This dual approach not only helps address immediate behavioral and relational concerns but also dives deeper to resolve our underlying emotional patterns, leading to a more grounded and less reactive way of parenting that enhances connection through the entire family system.

Our personal parenting triggers (whining, aggression, “defiance,” etc.) significantly influence how we interact with our children. By facing these issues, whether through parent coaching alone or in tandem with EMDR therapy, we can enhance our parenting by improving our ability to parent from our values instead of our reactivity. This process of self-exploration leads to meaningful changes in how we connect with our children, making our relationships stronger and more fulfilling.

Similarly, understanding our children’s behavior as a reflection of their inner world allows us to look beyond surface actions and address the emotional needs driving those behaviors. This deeper understanding fosters lasting behavioral change while also strengthening our parent-child bond.

This thorough understanding allows me to craft a personalized plan that includes specific strategies, communication tools, and guidelines tailored to meet your family’s short and long-term goals.

beyond behavior.

PARENT COACHING CAN HELP WITH

Emotional Outbursts

Many parents seek coaching for handling their child's intense emotional outbursts, which can range from aggressive tantrums to uncontrollable crying. These episodes often signal unmet needs, overwhelming feelings, or a lack of tools to express emotions constructively.

Transition Tensions

From starting school to moving houses or the birth of a new sibling, these types of changes can provoke anxiety and behavioral issues in children. These reactions are often rooted in fear of the unknown, loss of stability, or feelings of displacement.

Routine Resistance

Challenges with daily routines, like morning preparations or bedtime, are common exhausting issues parents face. This resistance might stem from a child's need for autonomy, fear of missing out, or simply the developmental stage of testing boundaries.

Sleep Issues

Difficulties with sleep, whether resisting bedtime or frequent night awakenings, are a common concern for tired parents. These issues often reflect underlying emotional or developmental phases, such as separation anxiety, overstimulation during the day, or disrupted routines - warranting compassionate understanding alongside swift resolution (for parents’ sanity!)

Sibling Dynamics

These tensions often arise from a (developmentally appropriate, attachment-informed)competition for parental attention, personal struggles for identity, or developmental stages of asserting independence.

Eating Concerns

Many parents seek guidance on how to address their child’s challenging eating habits, such as pickiness or under-eating. These issues can arise from a variety of underlying causes, including control battles, sensory sensitivities, or emotional distress.

building authentic relationships.

As a Good Inside® trained Parent Coach, the ultimate aim of parent coaching with me is to foster authentic relationships where both parents and children feel understood and supported. To get there, we will develop and implement creative, well-rounded strategies that help you move from where you are in your parenting journey, to where you want to be. This foundation will encourage not just behavioral change, but also emotional growth, preparing children to become resilient adults who want to maintain a close relationship with their parents.

real support for parents.

you’ve got questions. I’ve got answers.

  • Parent coaching focuses on providing specific strategies and insights to improve parenting skills and address common behavioral and relational challenges with children. Unlike family therapy, which may delve into deeper emotional issues and family dynamics requiring therapeutic intervention, coaching is more about practical guidance and support for everyday parenting situations.

  • Absolutely. Parent coaching can be tailored to meet the unique challenges and opportunities presented by children with special needs. By understanding your child's specific situation, coaching offers strategies that respect their individual differences and promotes a supportive environment that caters to their developmental and emotional requirements.

  • Differences in parenting styles are common and can be a source of tension. Parent coaching can help you and your partner find common ground, blending your styles into a cohesive approach that honors both of your perspectives while focusing on what’s best for your children. Together we will build an evidence based unified approach that fosters consistency and security for your family.

  • All appointments are remote via a confidential video link. Being in familiar surroundings can enhance comfort and help you feel more at ease during our sessions. I encourage you to show up in whatever ways help you feel most at ease- with a warm cup of tea, in your favorite sweatpants, or wrapped up in your coziest blanket.

Online appointments also mean increased convenience and flexibility - join a session in the evening after the kids are asleep, from your car on your cellphone before school pickup, or even at work on your lunch break.

  • While every family is unique, many parents start to notice positive changes in their interactions and their child’s behavior within a few weeks of implementing new strategies from coaching. Consistency and commitment to applying what you learn in coaching sessions are key to seeing lasting improvements.
